I’m sure none of you thought this last year would turn out the way it did, but hopefully you were able to reach a few of your goals. 2021 brings new opportunities and more chances to be the YOU you want to be. Here are a few tips to help get you to that end dream.
1. Use SMART goals. When thinking about the new year and what you want to accomplish try SMART goals.
Setting goals that meet this criteria can help you accomplish what you have set out to do this year. Don’t be afraid to check in and change your goals every few months and make changes. If your goal isn’t working, fix it and keep working on it.
2. Get a buddy. When making your goal, try to find a friend or family member that has a similar goal. Check in with them to keep them accountable and they will do the same for you. You’re less likely to skip your workout if someone is waiting to do it with you.
3. Make it fun. Turn your goal into a game or a competition. This will keep you engaged and motivated as the days go on. One of my favorites is water bottle bingo (see example below). Play with friends and family, and try to drink at least 64 oz. of water each day. Keep track of everyone's progress in a group chat and motivate each other.
