Do Your Feet hurt?
Do your feet hurt when you get out of bed in the morning? Have you noticed that your feet start hurting when you start running? If this sounds like a problem you have been dealing with, make an appointment to be examined at tidewaterdc.com, we might be able to help you.
The Plantar Fascia is a tissue covering over the muscles and tendons in the bottom of your foot. When you have Plantar Fasciitis this tissue contracts and pulls on the heel and arch of the foot. This commonly causes pain in the morning when you first stand up or when you start to run.
A few things that might help with this pain include:
Rolling the bottom of your foot out on a tennis ball or baseball. This can be done sitting or standing with a light pressure on the ball.
Orthotics have also been shown to be useful in helping with Plantar Fasciitis pain. An article by Lewis et al. states that “Orthotics, customized or prefabricated, have been shown to improve pain and function within 1 to 3 months with little to no risk.” (Lewis 2015). Giving your foot the support it needs can help reduce your pain as you go about your day. Before going out to buy orthotics, come in for an evaluation so you get the correct orthotic for your foot.

Chiropractic adjustments are another tool to help treat plantar fasciitis. Making sure all the joints in the foot are moving correctly can help reduce your pain. The same article by Lewis et al. included chiropractic care in the list of treatments that help reduce pain when conventional treatment options (such as NSAIDs or stretching) were no longer helping with the pain. (Lewis 2015)
