Getting back in the gym

Good News! Many of the gyms are opening back up. This means many of you will be getting back to your normal workout routines. Here are a few tips to help get you back to your pre-quarantine fitness levels.

1. Don’t rush.

If you haven't been able to lift with any real weights, it may take you some time to get some of that strength back. Start small and work your way back up. Remember, you’ve had several months off and it’s important to give your joints and muscles time to build that strength back up. Be patient. The strength will come back.

Reminder: If you push too hard on the first day and get injured, you will end up taking more time off to recover. It’s better in the long run to take it slow.

2. You will be sore.

Since many of us have taken this time away to work on other projects, you will most likely be sore after getting back in the gym. This is a good thing! A few ways to help mitigate the soreness include epsom salt baths, alternating Ice and Heat on the area that is sore, and drinking water.

3. Set New Goals.

Now is a perfect time to reevaluate your New Year's Resolution. Look at what you’ve accomplished so far and make a realistic and attainable plan for the next 6 months.
