Holiday Food

Holidays are one of my favorite times of the year. Good friends and even better food. But all that holiday food can really weigh you down. Here are a few tips to help you get through this holiday season.

1. Drink water!!! You can partake in that holiday glass of wine, or splurge and have an extra slice of pie, but with all those extra calories, it is very important to drink lots of water. Get a large water bottle and (32-50 oz.) and try to drink at least 2 full bottles each day.

2. Watch the snacking. Try to avoid snacking on sugary treats like cookies and candy throughout the day. Try carrots and ranch, or celery and peanut butter if you need a snack. Save desert for after dinner.

3. Portion control. With so many delicious choices, it’s easy to put too much food on your plate. Try using a smaller plate and going back for seconds if you are still hungry. Remember, it takes a few minutes for your stomach to tell your brain you're full, so stop eating when you feel 80% full. If you are still hungry after 10 minutes, then get a little more food.
