Self Care: Exercising
Exercising is one of my favorite self care activities! The list of benefits from exercising is a long one, but why should you incorporate it in your self care routine?
The movement from exercising is great for your joints and muscles. As a colleague of mine likes to say “ A body in motion tends to stay in motion.” Something as simple as a quick walk around the block can be a total body exercise and can help get those joints moving.
Exercising also releases endorphins (feel good chemicals) that stay with you even after your workout. That half hour of exercising can give you a little boost of energy for the rest of the day.
Exercising can help you reduce your stress and give you a chance you focus on you and not worry about that big work project or how many loads of laundry you need to wash. Take that time to focus on yourself and how you feel. Find an exercise you like to do (walking, tennis, golf, a spin class, yoga, ...) and enjoy it!
